Coming up with low sodium, no sodium food is very time consuming, but it is also very rewarding once you are able to have the things that you were told you couldn’t have. The recipes that I have created came from a lot of measuring, a lot of research and a lot of experimenting!
I was taught over 30 years how to make simple Southern Biscuits. So I took that basic recipe and revised it and came up with these fantastic breakfast biscuits made with blueberries and the only sodium in them comes from the powdered buttermilk. Then I was thinking, if I took out the sugar and the berries, why couldn’t this same recipe basically be used for flat breads that can substitute store bought taco shells. Guess what, after experimenting and revising the recipe I came up with a way to use the same basic recipe for several different things.
