Imbolc is the time of year when the Earth begins to wake once more from its Winter slumber. The name itself means "in the womb" or "ewe's milk" depending on interpretations and refers to the ewes pregnant with lambs who are just beginning to produce milk once again.
This milk would have provided a welcome change after eating winter's stored fair the past 2 months.
