Due to the current economic crunch, people all over the United States and the world are looking for ways to lower their budge through frugal shopping. In our family, one of those ways is to go back to basic foods including the economical peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When I was a girl, my mother made me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch at least twice a week. I liked them, but when I grew up, I didn't want to eat them anymore because I thought of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as kid food. So I stopped eating peanut butter and jelly. When my children were little, they didn't like peanut butter and jelly, so we didn't make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for them to eat. So I hadn't eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for quite some time. But last week my husband and I decided that we need to do more frugal shopping for food, so we decided that one of our meals this week was going to be peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with soup. My girls are now 16 and 12. My one daughter still won't eat jelly, so she had a peanut butter sandwich. My other daughter had just soup.I had forgotten how much I liked peanut butter and jelly, and how satisfying it was to eat. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are nutritious, and they seem to fulfill the need for protein, fat, and carbohydrates all in one package. I even found myself singing the peanut butter and jelly song.
